My one and only take on women and the priesthood

If you are a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and you believe this is God's church.  And, if you believe that this church is led by a prophet of God, who leads the church with inspiration and revelation.  Then, if that prophet says that women in the church will not receive, and do not even need the priesthood, that should be the end of it.  If you do not believe that he is a prophet, then why are you in the church to begin with, and why would you want the priesthood in a church that you don't even believe in?  The want to have the priesthood has to be driven by some other idea--political, social, or whatever.  Why would you want to change something that you say you believe to be true and inspired by God.  I will not respond to any comments on this issue, because for me and this issue, there is no issue, because I believe.

I agree with you, but let me play devil's advocate and explain their thinking. They believe that the only reason the Priesthood was extended to all worthy men was because the prophet went and asked God about this question. So in their mind, they think the Prophet hasn't really asked God if women should have the Priesthood. What they don't understand is that this isn't part of the way God's kingdom is run. Women have their own duties, and men have their's, and that is the way God's church is run. But can you see their thinking?

I will respond, Stick. :)

The difference, Delirious, is that all along the prophets said that there would come a time when the priesthood would be given to all worthy men. That has never been even hinted at for women. I am not saying that if the prophet came out tomorrow and said otherwise that I wouldn't be excited. It would be an amazing announcement. All the more amazing since there has been no hint it COULD happen. I am not one of those people who say "The Lord works in mysterious ways." That is a mantra for people who want to do mysterious things in the Lord's name. I simply believe that prophets usually do something called prophesying. Things that happen do so because the Lord said they would.

And I know you are only playing devil's advocate, and don't really believe the bilge a particular group is spewing forth. I just thought I'd answer the challenge! :D
